Our commitments

What we will always do, and what we never will

  • We never ask for money or bank details at your door. Any insurance payment made to you goes straight from your insurer to your bank account. You give your details to the insurer, never to us.
  • We always show identification and leave a card.

Know the difference

How to tell a legitimate advocate from a storm chaser

A legitimate advocate

  • Shows ID and leaves a card you can check later
  • Displays licence numbers you can verify on public registers
  • Explains how they're paid, in writing

A storm chaser

  • Asks for cash, a deposit or your bank details at the door
  • Claims to be "sent by your insurer"
  • Has no licence numbers, or numbers that don't check out
  • Uses urgency: "prices go up tomorrow", "last house on the street"

These warning signs are published by the Insurance Council of Australia and ASIC's MoneySmart. If in doubt, check the registers above or call the Queensland Office of Fair Trading on 13 74 68.
