This was a flood event, not a hail or wind storm. We list it for completeness because it affected the same regions we serve, but it is a different insurance peril with different policy cover.
From 21–22 February 2022, extreme rainfall and flooding hit South East Queensland and the NSW Northern Rivers (Lismore, Ballina, Mullumbimby, Casino). The Insurance Council of Australia declared catastrophe CAT 221; with roughly 236,000 claims and about $6 billion incurred, it remains Australia’s costliest flood.
Our service is storm and hail damage claims, meaning roof damage from hail and wind. If your damage is flood-related, your claim runs under your policy’s flood provisions, and we’d encourage you to speak with your insurer directly or seek advice suited to flood claims.
